Twitter is one of the social media sites that allow you to give small updates in 140 characters or less. That’s called micro-blogging. The messages you send are called “tweets”. You can either follow whomever you are willing to connect with by checking on the contact bar.

1.    Follow people you can learn from. There is a population on Twitter of persons who are directly involved in your kind of business. You may be able to share ideas.

2.    Follow people that  you can teach something. Follow people who are directly affiliated with your target market. Send them tweets.  Start sending 140 character tweets (messages) with useful information that will help them in their businesses.  By doing so, you will have demonstrated your character and expertise.  You will have provided value and good content.  You will eventually gain popularity.

3.    Watch and listen to what goes around you before you submit your posts. This allows you to identify the kinds of updates that you deem appropriate to your business.

4.    Give feedback.  After going through a discussed conversation it is always nice to also give feedback. This can be done by following a related tweet (message).  Also include the topic of discussion.

5.    Use Twitter to grow your business by sending direct messages you might want to joint venture with.  On Twitter, connections are as easy to make.  In no time, you  can find people who share your likes and dislikes.  You can get together with them to bring out a new creative project.

6.    Share your website via the Twitter profile page. This allows you to link to your website, which also grants all the people that you have followed access to your website.
